dogal wogals.

This post is dedicated our family dogs and our new puppy Amber, she  is 5 month old  tri colored Basset Hound who was born on 10th  march 2011.

We (my mother & my self) decided to get a puppy because we have a 9 year old basset hound called Jasper who we love dearly but sadly basset hounds only live for around 10-12 years and we felt it was better to get another basset hound now and love them both together than to have the loss of a well loved dog and then get another to replace because Jasper is, will and always has been irreplaceable.

Ever since i can remember in my family we have always had dogs the one i remember best is Red the Boxer he was a beautiful red and white Boxer dog who we had from a puppy. When i was younger i would lay with Red on the carpet and fall asleep in the front room whilst my family watched TV.At that time i had long hair and he would sometimes decided to lay on it leaving me pinned to the floor! although i never really minded as all i ever wanted to do was cuddle and love him.Sadly red became very poorly as he grew older and developed tumors and suffered a stroke which left him unable to feel in his back leg. After many trips to the vets my mother decided the best thing was to put him out of his pain and let him go to sleep.

Before we lost Red we had the arrival of Jasper I can remember the day he came to us,My mum and dad traveled to wales to collect him and he didn't arrive home till very late.He was a very chunky puppy and the first night we had him he cried and cried saddening my mum so much that she popped him in her bed, 9 years on and he's still there!Jaspers time growing up filled me and my family with joy and laughs,He would do things like steeling shoes or pieces of clothing of the washing line!He also found great amusement in nibbling Reds ankles and running away to Reds disapproval. At this time he also developed a extream interest in food, This led on to Jasper thieving numerous cheese sandwiches (His favorite) a long list of dinners and basically anything he could get his hands on! As time pasted luckily so did his thieving habit, instead he transformed his thieving energy into what we like to refer to as his "Emotional Attachment".This is Jaspers emotional bond with all things edible,Part of the emotional show is "Prarey dog" and  "they don't feed me".Prarey dog is where he sits back on to his bottom and begs with his front paws, highly amusing when teamed with They don't feed me,This is where Jasper chatters his teeth and does the famous RSPCA eyes! When using these emotions giving an abundance of treats is forced upon you as an owner numerous times in the day.

Which brings up to the arrival of Amber our latest eddition to the family.Just like Jasper when he was a little puppy she enjoys nibbling his ankles and tugging on his tale as an added annoyance,Of course all this is out of love, all she wants him to do is play with her but jasper has never and will never play, When throwing a ball for Jasper to fetch he will look at you whilst sitting still as if to say "Well are you going to get that ?"So the arrival of an extremely playful puppy was not on his wish list.

So far she has had all her jabs and her micro chip, shes lost around 5/6 teeth (the ones we have found). She walks well on the lead though she loves all people and other dogs so she will pull if she sees any of them.We have been to the vets quite a few times due to her love of eating grass, stones and mud she has suffered from quite an upset tummy but nothing anti biotics don't clear up.

Thats all i have to say about little Amber for now but im sure as she grows just like the others she will give me and my mum many funny memories i can share.
